We collect your email, your home harbour (and its name as you write it if it is missing from our list), your boat as you describe it (type, length, crew, name if given), your first name (optional at sign-up) and last name (at checkout), and the parameters of the advertising campaign that brought you here. They are used to send you your sailing windows, your access details and our offers, and to measure the effectiveness of our ads.

Your data is never resold. It is kept in our own database, on our servers in Germany (Hetzner). The only other parties involved are Stripe for payment, Amazon Web Services for sending emails and measuring their opens and clicks (Amazon SES, Paris), Cloudflare, through which the site's traffic passes, Meta for measuring our ads (see “Advertising” below), YouTube if you play the demo video (see “Demo video”) and TypeSafe, which helps us choose the first name in our emails when the one you typed is ambiguous (first and last name together, for example): only that first name and the part of your address before the @ are sent to it, never the full address.

Harbours in your area: on the Sail Weather offer pages, Cloudflare passes us an approximate location derived from your IP address (town or region). It is only used to choose the harbours shown; it is neither kept nor passed on.

Audience measurement: we count visits with Plausible and our own statistics, hosted on our servers. No cookies, nothing is stored on your device: a random identifier lives for the duration of your visit, in the page's memory, and your IP address is not kept. If your browser asks not to be tracked (“Do Not Track”), only Plausible's anonymous visit count remains.

Your journey, if you leave your email: in the Sail Weather offer, we link the random identifier of that visit to your email, as well as those of the visits where you reach checkout or come back from our emails. We then see the pages viewed, the time spent on each, the steps reached and the actions taken (harbour chosen, video watched, payment started), to understand where the journey stops you and improve the offer. Nothing more is stored on your device. These statistics stay on our servers for 24 months at most, and the link with your email disappears when your email is erased.

Your weather checks, once signed in to the app (on the website, the iPhone or Android): we keep what the Weather screen showed you (harbour, boat, verdict and its reliability, model agreement, upcoming hours, official warnings, time of the forecast), so we can answer you if a forecast surprised you and to improve our calculations. These views stay on our servers for 2 years at most and are deleted with your account.

Advertising: on the Sail Weather offer pages (noramarine.app/weather), Meta's pixel (Facebook, Instagram) measures how well our ads work. It sets cookies (_fbp, and _fbc if you arrive through one of our ads), kept for 90 days, and sends Meta Platforms Ireland the pages you view and the steps you take (email left, payment started, purchase and its amount), with your IP address and browser. When you leave your email or pay, our server also sends that step to Meta (Conversions API), even if your browser blocks the pixel: your email (and your first and last name for a purchase) hashed, that is irreversibly transformed, your IP address, your browser, the identifiers of the cookies above or of the ad click, the page and the amount. For a purchase, these details travel with the payment at Stripe until they are sent. Meta may match this information with your Facebook or Instagram account. The rest of the site and the app do not use this pixel. To avoid it, use a tracker blocker and ask your browser not to be tracked (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track): our server then sends nothing. You can also adjust “Your activity off Meta technologies” in your Meta account.

Demo video: on the Sail Weather offer and demo pages (noramarine.app/weather/offre and /weather/demo), the video is hosted by YouTube (Google Ireland). Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you start playback. When you do, the player opens in “privacy-enhanced mode” (youtube-nocookie.com), with YouTube's script that tells us how far playback has got, also taken from youtube-nocookie.com: YouTube receives your IP address and browser, and may store data on your device while the video plays, under its own privacy rules. Our own statistics then record the start, pauses and how much of the video is watched, with nothing that identifies you.

Language: if you change the site's language, a cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) remembers your choice for one year; it is used for nothing else.

Email measurement: our emails may contain an invisible image and tracking links provided by Amazon SES. When you open one of them or click a link, Amazon Web Services receives your IP address and the name of your email software, and we can see whether the email was opened and which links were clicked. This helps us check that our emails arrive and measure their interest. To avoid open tracking, don't display images in our emails.

Coming back from our emails: the links in our reminders go through noramarine.app, which records the first click and sets a cookie (nm_resume) for 15 minutes. The page reads it once to pick up your harbour, first name and email address without asking for them again, then deletes it; it is used for nothing else.

Safety notice: when you accept it in the app, we record your account (identifier and email address), the version of the text, its fingerprint, and the date and time, but neither your IP address nor your location. This lets us prove, in case of a dispute, that the notice was shown to you and that you accepted it (legitimate interest). We keep this information as long as your account exists, then for 10 years, the period during which a claim for personal injury remains possible. We also keep it if you delete your account, because it is needed to defend our rights (GDPR, Article 17(3)(e)). You can ask for a copy at bonjour@noramarine.app.

Sail Weather iOS app: your boat, units, favourite ports and the latest forecast stay on your iPhone. To compute the verdict, the app sends our server the chosen port and the description of your boat, which we do not keep. Your location is read only when you tap “Nearest to me”, on the iPhone only, to find the nearby port: it is not sent to us. To sign in, you give your email address, to which we send a code. An in-app purchase is processed by Apple; when you are signed in, we link its transaction reference, signed by Apple, to your account so the app also opens on the website. Usage measurement: the app sends our own statistics, hosted on our servers, the screens you open and a few actions (port chosen, passage computed, purchase), with the iPhone model, iOS version and language, under a random identifier specific to the installation, never linked to your account or your address. No ads, no trackers, no screen recording, nothing is shared with third parties. You can delete your account from the app (Settings, “Delete my account”).

Sail Weather Android app: it is the website's app, opened inside an application; everything above about the website applies to it. Your location is read only when you tap “Ma position”, with Android's permission: it is used to find the nearby port or, far from a port, to show the forecast for that point, which then joins your weather checks. Meta's pixel is never loaded in it: nothing is shared with third parties.

Deleting your Sail Weather account: in the app, on the website, the iPhone or Android, Settings → Compte → “Supprimer mon compte”, then “Supprimer définitivement”; or write to bonjour@noramarine.app from the account's address. Erased at once: the account, its sign-ins and its weather checks. Kept, unlinked from the account: an order, as an accounting record (10 years), and the acceptance of the safety notice (10 years, see above).

You can unsubscribe in one click from every email, and request access to, correction or deletion of your data at bonjour@noramarine.app. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Sail Weather is sold as a one-time payment, with no subscription or renewal. The plan purchased gives access, with no time limit, to the features described at the time of purchase, for as long as the service is operated. The same goes for add-ons bought with no time limit (lifetime Pro, Evening Briefing, Cruising Pack): if an add-on later moves to a subscription, those already bought stay yours, with no subscription.

The €9 “Pro · 1 year” offer provides 12 months of access from payment, offered after declining lifetime Pro. It includes Pro tools and alerts, with no subscription or automatic renewal. At expiry, the Pro rights from this offer end; Essential and other add-ons remain available under their own terms.

Pro launch price: the first 100 sales of Pro are at the launch price shown on its page and in the app. The places counter reflects our actual sales; a refunded sale frees its place. Once the 100 places are gone, Pro goes up to €89, as a one-time payment.

Payment is made by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, processed by Stripe: we never see or store your card number. By confirming your order, you agree that your card remains stored with Stripe for a single purpose: adding in one click the options offered right after the order. An option is only charged if you click its purchase button, at the price shown on its page, and each charge is followed by an email receipt. No other charge is made without your consent. You can remove this card at any time, in one click, in Settings › Account on noramarine.app.

Sail Weather is a decision aid. It replaces neither the official marine weather bulletin, nor the nautical chart, nor the judgement of the skipper, who alone is responsible for the decision to sail and for handling the vessel.
